About The Old Border – Hotel in Vama Veche

The Old Border is a boutique hotel in Vama Veche, 300 m from the beach, created from our family dream – Mariana and Grig – and built with passion since 2017. The story began on a wild plot, just 300 meters from the beach, where we moved with our first child in a caravan, determined to create a special place: an accommodation space in Vama Veche, inspired by Dobrogean architecture, that would combine tranquility, nature, comfort, and authentic hospitality. We grew together with the place – we, as a family of three children now, and The Old Border, as a heartfelt project. Today, we offer **16 double rooms** decorated in a marine style, with access from a shared terrace, private bathroom, air conditioning, WiFi, cable TV, and a mini fridge. The rooms are divided between sea view and garden view.

Our guests enjoy a lavender garden, a fully equipped summer kitchen, a children’s playground, an outdoor shower, a relaxation area, and complimentary coffee, tea, and fruit – all designed for a warm and familiar atmosphere.

Starting in 2024, we opened Sarmuzac – Local Gastronomic Point, where Grig cooks on request for guests, with soul and responsibility, just like for our own family. The menu includes traditional Dobrogean dishes, prepared from local ingredients, with authentic recipes and flavors that tell stories.

The Old Border means more than just a simple hotel in Vama Veche – it is a lively, warm place where tourism is practiced with empathy, at a gentle pace, for people seeking real experiences, not just a bed for the night.

We especially cater to couples, families, and small groups of friends who love Vama Veche differently – with leisure, depth, and soul.

In the morning, we welcome you with coffee, tea, and fresh fruits, and after that, you choose your day’s adventure: lounging on a deck chair with a good book or a favorite album, swimming in the clean sea water, enjoying dishes from Dobrogean cuisine at Sarmuzac—a local gastronomic point opened within The Old Border—or exploring the surroundings (the most beautiful places in Dobrogea, the coast, or the Bulgarian neighbors).

The Old Border is a boutique hotel with a marine theme, featuring 16 double rooms (8 ground floor rooms and 8 sea-view rooms on the upper floor), each with a 1.60×2.00m double bed, private bathroom, AC, cable TV, refrigerator, hairdryer, wardrobe, and WiFi. One child up to 6 years old is accommodated for free in the parents’ room if no extra bed is requested. For children between 7-18 years old or families with two children under 7 years, a folding bed is added in the parents’ room at an additional cost of 150 Ron/night.

We have a equipped summer kitchen and terrace for preparing and serving meals independently, as well as a playground for children.

In the morning, we offer the first coffee/tea and fruit on the house.

At Sarmuzac – a local gastronomic point within The Old Border – you can enjoy traditional Dobrogean dishes, healthy and tasty (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) with prior reservation.

The terrace has facilities for working outside the office.

We can provide a free crib/playpen for babies up to 2 years old and a baby high chair.

Outdoor shower, perfect for moments when you want to enjoy the beach until evening but don’t want to go home with sand on you.

We offer free parking for our guests’ personal cars.
